12th Edition of CANEVA RIDE
CANEVA RIDE is a contest for humorous and satirical cartoons, created in memory of Toni Zampol, a teacher, subtle humorist, and storyteller of the Caneva region. He expressed his art by drawing at weddings and other joyful events, always ready to capture the curious or comic side of people and situations.
The competition is promoted by Pro Castello di Caneva (PN), with contributions from APS Màcheri di Andreis (PN) and the Municipality of Caneva.
It is open to all cartoonists aged 16 and above and has quickly become one of the most significant international events in the world of satirical illustration.
Laughter is a human activity—it is not aimed at survival or fulfilling essential needs, yet it plays a crucial role. Making light of reality, de-dramatizing painful aspects, and laughing at life’s challenges add an essential element to storytelling. Like literary or textual narration, satire and humor help simplify and lighten the interpretation of current events, making daily life easier to digest.
After 11 editions, here are some key figures about this unique provincial contest—now a small gem among international competitions in drawn humor and satire:

• Over 4,300 submitted works
• Representation from 400 nations
Laughter is a moment of suspension, a reaction, a detached reflection—an abstraction of reality entrusted to sarcasm and irony, helping us navigate life with a touch of philosophy.
Our contest gives a voice to a world of narratives, showcasing expressions, sayings, and proverbs that—though varied in form—are present in all cultures.
Theme of the 12th Edition
The 2025 theme of Caneva Ride, the international contest for humorous and satirical cartoons, is:
“Love is blind”
Let’s ask ourselves: What do we love? Do we need a mirror? Should we shed light on our feelings? Is love far away or close to us?
