This call is part of the First International Caricature Festival – Expo Cartoon Panama, to be held from September 15 to 19, 2025, in Panama City.
Artists from Panama and around the world are invited to explore the global debate around fake news — false or misleading information that is often spread intentionally to manipulate public opinion, misinform audiences, or cause confusion. These may be presented in the form of articles, images, videos, or audio recordings, and are frequently circulated through social media and digital platforms.
Types of Fake News:
1. Disinformation – Incorrect information shared without malicious intent
2. Misinformation – False data shared by mistake
3. Malinformation – True information that is manipulated or taken out of context to mislead
Fake news can have serious consequences, from influencing political decisions to affecting public health. Combating it requires verifying sources, comparing information, and promoting critical thinking.
