The short film “In the Shadow of the Cypress,” directed by Hossein Molayemi and Shirin Sohani, Iranian filmmakers, has won the Academy Award for Best Animated Short.

This 20-minute animated film tells the story of a retired sea captain who struggles with post-traumatic stress disorder while caring for his daughter. Other nominees in this category included Beautiful Men, Magic Candies, Wander to Wonder, and Yuck!.
