Call for 24th. International Biennial of Humor in San Antonio de los Baños
The Circle of Humorists and Cartoonists of the Union of Journalists of Cuba and the Museum of Humor of San Antonio de losBaños, call for the 24th International Biennial of Graphic Humor to be held from April 20 to 23, 2025, with the co-sponsorship of the Provincial Board of Culture of Artemisa.
Humorists and cartoonists, inspired by the slogan Less fake and more news, invite their colleagues from Cuba and the world to project with their works the debate around the disinformation and manipulation of the news by the big transnationals of communication in digital networks and social exchange platforms. To advocate for a transparent and reliable communicational reciprocity.
Participation in the meeting is open to all cartoonists who can compete with free theme. The original works must be sent in digital or printed format, with the signature and details of the author.
The works may be made in any technique, delivered in JPG format, with a resolution of 300 dpi and no less than 1,500 pixels on the longest side. Printed works must not exceed 30x40 centimeters and must be sent by mail or physically to:

The genres in which the competition will be held are the following:
General humour
Political satire
Humorous comic strip
Personal caricature
Humorous photography
The Tomy Prize for political humor, in memory of beloved cartoonist Tomas Rodriguez Zayas, who would be 76 years old in 2025.
The Tomy Prize seeks to reward the best exponents of counter-hegemonic, anti-imperialist and leftist graphic discourse. On this occasion, the theme will be No to the war in Palestine.
Participants will send one work in each category, plus the Tomy Prize for political humor.
The works will be sent to the following e-mail address: humor@upec.cu, and must be accompanied by the participation form, specifying the following information:

The same data must be included in the information of the digital works, titling the file with the author's name and country of origin, as well as clarifying the category in which the work is competing in the body of the message and in the subject line, and if the work is for the Tomy Prize.
All proposals will be received until March 1,2025.
About the juries
The admission jury will select the works submitted to the contest, which will be exhibited at the 24th International Salon of Graphic Humor in San Antonio de los Baños.
An international jury, made up of prestigious figures linked to graphic humor, will award the prizes. The decisions of the jurors are final and participation in the contest implies acceptance of all terms of this call.
About the awards
Eduardo Abela Prize, the highest award of the contest. It is awarded as a tribute to the outstanding Cuban cartoonist (1889-1965), consisting of a diploma, trophy and artwork.
First, second and third prizes in each category and as many mentions as the jury considers, consisting of a diploma.
Tomy Prize consisting of a diploma, trophy and a reproduction of one of the author's works.
As it is already a tradition, several Cuban cultural and social institutions join the contest and give collateral prizes.
