2015 Animated Oscar Shorts
Footprints by Bill Plympton
the Oscar animated short runners-up (liked it more than some of the shorts that were actually nominated). Footprints is a surreal story about a man who goes out in search of the monster that broke his window. Surrealism is a tricky business, and is likely to work better for some than others. For me, the escalation in the character's idea of what this horrible monster could look like and the fantastic ending make up for the film's shortcomings. Some wonderfully creative hand-drawn animation, too. Paranoia only points its weapons inward.
