Biography
Patrick Byrnes - South Korea
born in Busan, South Korea in 1984 and raised in La Grange, Illinois.
He earned his undergraduate degree in Art History and English from the University of St Andrews in 2006, then began his fine art training at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
He spent a year studying drawing at The Florence Academy of Art, then moved to New York in 2010 to train under Jacob Collins at Grand Central Atelier.
He graduated in 2014, and currently lives and works in New York City.
Patrick teaches drawing and painting in the full and part time programs at Grand Central Atelier, as well as workshops around the country.
His work is exhibited at galleries in New York and Massachusetts.
Patrick's immersion in the methodology, philosophy and studio practices of the classical atelier continues to inform and refine his technical skills, while his determination to evince the beauty, dignity and grace of the human form provides the inspiration for his work.
