Cartoonist Bruno Liberati dies at age 71

The illustrator worked in the newsrooms of Jornal do Brazil, Veja, Jornal da Tarde. He was also an illustrator at Companhia das Letras.

Cartoonist and illustrator Bruno Liberati died this Friday (26th) june 2020, at his home in Rio de Janeiro. The cause of death has not yet been confirmed by the family.

The news was released by O Globo columnist Ancelmo, and confirmed by G1 with friends from Liberati. People close to the cartoonist commented that he had complained of pain in the digestive tract and intestine in the past few days.

Graduated in social sciences, the illustrator worked in the newsrooms of Jornal do Brasil, Jornal da Tarde, the State of São Paulo, Movimento, Versus, La Repubblica, Uomiuri Shimbum, and in Visão, Veja Rio, Graphis Annual 84/86 and Print magazines .

Liberati was also an illustrator for the book publisher Companhia das Letras.

The writer Afonso Borges, for example, defined Liberati's work as "who best portrayed personalities from Brazilian and world culture, especially from literature".
