THE DAMANHOUR WOMEN'S INTERNATIONAL CARICATURE FESTIVAL EXHIBITION, SECOND EDITION 2025
The Caricature Memory Project, part of the Abdallah El-Sawy Foundation for Egyptian Caricature Heritage Preservation, announces the opening of the Damanhour Women's International Caricature Festival Exhibition, second edition, March 2025, in accordance with the following terms and conditions:
First: Cartoon Department
Theme: Women's Economic Empowerment
Increase women's economic participation and empowerment through comprehensive and sustainable private sector development, improve the business environment, and promote a culture of entrepreneurship for women in various sectors, including agribusiness and technology: Agribusiness and technology; to contribute to the creation of suitable job opportunities for women in these sectors.


Second: Caricature Portrait Section
Caricature of Fatma Al-Yousef (1898-1958), a Lebanese actress and journalist of Turkish descent. She is considered one of the most famous women who worked in art, journalism and politics in the first half of the twentieth century in Egypt, and the mother of the great Egyptian writer: Ihsan Abdel Quddus. She worked as a theatre actress at the beginning of her life, then retired from acting and turned to journalism, founding the weekly magazine Roze Al-Youssef in 1925, then the daily newspaper Roze Al-Youssef in 1935, and in 1956 the magazine Sabah Al-Khair.

In recognition of her contribution to Egyptian journalism and cartooning, and in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the publication of Roze Al-Youssef magazine, she was chosen to be the character of the second edition of the Damanhour Women's International Caricature Festival in March 2025.


EXHIBITION RULES
o Participation is open to cartoonists from all over the world over the age of 18.
o One work can be entered in each section.
o JPEG format, 300 dbi
o The size of the panel is A3, not exceeding 2 MB.
o Colour or black and white, as well as hand-drawn or digital works are accepted.
o The artist's name and country should be written at the bottom of the work as in the following example

o Send a Word document with the work containing the following information: Title of the work, name and address, email address, phone number, a brief biography of the artist, and a high-quality photograph.
o The drawing must be specially prepared for the exhibition and must not have been previously entered in any other competition or exhibition.
o Participating works must not violate intellectual property rights laws.
o The participant acknowledges his/her ownership of the submitted drawing and allows the organising committee to use all or some of the participating works for publicity and publication free of charge, while publicising and promoting the festival, through print, publication and promotion, through print and visual media.
o Three works in each field will be selected by an international jury to receive certificates of recognition and a festival shield.
o The best drawings in each field will be selected to participate in the festival's exhibition by an international jury.
o All participants will receive a certificate of participation and an electronic copy of the festival catalogue.
