“In my works I always helped by a little boy Kolya Vorontsov, who is sitting inside me on a little chair. He is laughs, snorts, endorses, doubts, sighs, falls asleep from boredom, wakes up. Sometimes he says “Cheers!”, when I sneeze.”

Biography

Nikolay was born on July 1, 1959 in Petropavlovsk, North-Kazakhstan region. From 1985 to 1991 he has been working as an artist in the children’s newspaper “Lenin sparks” (“Five Corners”), from 1991 he has been working in the socio-political newspaper “Rush Hour,” as a full-time cartoonist. Collaborated with the magazines “Crocodile”, “Bus”, “Komsomolskaya Pravda”, “Balamut” and others.

Member of the Union of Artists of Russia, participated in numerous exhibitions in the country and cartoons worldwide. Winner of the contest cartoons in Gabrovo, Bulgaria —1986, Vilnius, Lithuania — 1987, Tallinn, Estonia — 1990, Ankara, Turkey — 1995, 1997, Olense, Belgium — 2000, Tehran, Iran — 2002, Tokyo, Japan — 1998.

In 1996 the book “The Surprising Adventures of Baron Munchausen” was awarded second place in the All-Russian contest “Book Art” in Moscow.

In 2009, “The Surprising Adventures of Baron Munchausen” was again awarded at the contest “Art of the Book.”

In 1997 the book “Small, but proud birdies” was awarded same first degree.

In 2003 Nikolay Vorontsov was awarded “Man of the book” for “Samson and Roberto” series by “Azbooka” publishing house.

2011. Diploma of the contest “The Image of the Book” for “Merry English-Russian dictionary. For boys and girls. Edited by Little Wolf“.

2012. Diploma of the contest “The Image of the author of “ABC“.

2014. Diploma of the contest “The Image of the Book” for a book series about cat Pompon.
