Akademic painter Dusan Polakovic was born on 1st October 1950 in Bratislava. In 1966-1970 he studied at the High School of Applied Arts in Bratislava: Department of Graphic Art, in the years 1970-1972 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warszaw, Poland and in the years 1972-1976 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava, Department of Illustration and book making with Professor Albin Brunovsky (the great Slovak graphic artist and painter). He works as a freelance artist dedicated to painting, graphic art, book illustrations and cartoons and at each of these areas achieved extraordinary results. He is a popular illustrator: his illustrations adorn a large number of books. His artworks were exhibited worldwide and were awarded by many prestigious awards. He lives and works in Bratislava, Slovak Republic.
