Marian Avramescu was born on 9th February 1957 in Sangeru, Prahova, Romania. He studied Geography at the Bucharest University. Later he studied painting in the studio of Serfi (modernist painter, professor at the Nicolae Grigorescu Institute). Marian Avramescu started with graphic media, he has been a collaborator of many newspapers and magazines at home and abroad. But his first exhibition were his glass icons. Very soon he became famous by his portraits which capture the soul of portraited characters. The album, containing 101 portraits, from Patriarch and King Michael to leading bankers was awarded the Romanian Press Club. In 2004 the graphic news agency AM Press issued his book "Cum ma vezi si cum to vad". Currently Marian Avramescu works as a press cartoonist for Antena 3 TV Romania. He presented his creative work at several personal exhibitions in Bucharest, Ploiesti, Cluj-Napoca: Piatra Neamt, Singeru, etc. Artworks by Marian Avramescu have been awarded prestigious prizes at the international competitions of caricature and graphics (let us mention some of them. 2005 — Special prize at Pressclub Awards, Bucharest, 2007 — 1st prize Zikison caricature Serbia; Gold Prize 6LM International Cartoon Contest China; 2008 — Prize of Excellence Red man China; 3rd Prize International Cartoon Contest "Debiut" Zielona Gora-Poland; 2009 — Honorable diploma International Cartoon Competition Addis Ababa-Ethiopia, 2010 — Honorable diploma Nosorog (Rhinoceros) Magazine "Politics and politicians" Serbia; 2012 — Honor Award Ylmaz Guney Cinema Turkey; 2013 — 2nd Prize Smiling Cat, and many others). He was a member of jury of the international cartoon contests in China: Iran and Germany. Marian Avramescu is living and working in Singeru, Prahova, Romania.
