David Garcia Vivancos - Spain
My name is David Garcia Vivancos, and I am an illustrator specialized in caricature from Madrid, Spain.
My studio work is published in Spanish press (La Razon, ABC, tintaLibre...), but I also work for private clients and in live gigs for companies like Vodafone, Heineken, UEFA or Toyota, in example.
In 2014 appeared my first book, En capítulos anteriores..., a caricature publication about well known international TV series, and 2016 is the year of my second book, El Futbol es asin, about soccer icons.
I try to use only a few lines, a very limited colour palette and a number of textures to capture my victims, following a very simple way of working: I always do the sketch with a black Bic pen in a small ring binder notebook, I scan the groundwork and then I do the final finish in Photoshop, giving a vector like appearance, which contrasts sharply with the dirtiness of the sketch.
There's only one rule I try not to forget: there's no caricature without likeness.
With this idea clear, I continue exploring, always having fun and giving the best of myself, hopefully for a long time to come.
